(Los Angeles, CA--December 2, 2015) AIA Los Angeles (AIA|LA) is pleased to share the debut of a design awards program devoted to contemporary residential design at all scales and variations.

Southern California has always been a dynamic global incubator for dazzling residential architecture. The AIA|LA Residential Architecture Awards (RAA) focus on today’s contributions to the paradigm by celebrating design we live in. Entry registration opens December 2, 2015 and closes January 26, 2016. A jury will meet to consider submissions in March 2016, with a cocktail party/awards event to announce winners on jury day.

The RAAs are founded to celebrate a multiplicity of approaches in the field: from homes and multi-family projects encompassing simply beautiful design to those that offer the innovative or edgy as they address new urban and environmental conditions.

In addition, the RAAs are structured to invite submissions at all scales and architecture firms of all sizes. Categories for consideration include residential renovations, often the terrain of beginning-career designers, to multi-family residential of 50+ units, frequently the purview of experienced or larger firms. In this way, the RAAs are intended to honor design excellence and bring to light contributions of a wide variety of architectural offices-small, medium, large.

The RAAs showcase home design located in the greater Los Angeles area by any eligible AIA member, and AIA|LA members’ work in the typology completed in any location.

AIA|LA member architects and associates may submit their own homes, but all work must be completed, and hold certificates of occupancy. Projects must originate no earlier than January 1, 2012.
