Please respond by February 3, 2017
AIA’s Fellowship program was developed to elevate those Architect Members who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual, but also honors before the public and the profession an model architect who has made a significant contribution to architecture & society on a national or even international level.Architect Members submitting for Fellowship, the highest honor that AIA accords, need to be nominated either by their local Chapter, or by any five Fellows or ten Architect members. The process of submitting to AIA National is the same in either case, and both types of nominations are evaluated and judged equally.
AIA Los Angeles is fortunate to have a dedicated Fellows Nominating & Mentoring Committee, tasked with identifying, nominating and assisting eligible candidates with their submission. To that end, we will be looking at preliminary portfolios from interested & eligible Architect members of the AIA|LA Chapter, starting in March. Chapter nominations will be made in April and there will be three review sessions/mentoring meetings for nominees prior to the final submission deadline in October 2017.
If you are:
A) An Architect member of AIA Los Angeles in good standing (that is, current with both your 2017 membership renewal and your 2016 AIA CES requirement), and
B) you have been an Architect member for ten years or longer (total; does not have to be consecutive), and would like to pursue Fellowship, please email Steve Tanner at this link by February 3, 2017 and let him know of your interest.
You do not have to provide any supporting information at this time. The Committee will reply in early March with a request for a preliminary portfolio, which typically includes a 35-word summary statement and one- or two-page CV. Specific instructions will be provided at that time. Again, this is an opportunity for you to notify the Chapter of your interest and to ask any questions you may have about the process.
Before making your decision, please be sure to review all rules, guidelines and deadlines and take a look at the Best Examples and FAIA Submission Walk-Through at the official Fellowship page at aia.org.
