AIA|LA Announces Finalists for 2017 AIA|LA Restaurant Design Awards
People's Choice Awards Voting Opens

Tuesday, June 6, 2017 (Los Angeles) -- Pull a chair up to the table, design fans and foodies, the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles chapter (AIA|LA) is delighted to announce that the finalists for the 2017 Restaurant Design Awards (RDAs) have been selected by a jury and voting for the 2017 Restaurant Design Awards People’s Choice Awards is officially open.

The public is invited to pick their fave in each of the following three categories: restaurants, cafes and bars, lounge and nightclubs—no reservations required. But last call is 12:00pm, noon, on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, when voting closes.

People’s Choice Award Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Dwell on Design, along with the 2017 Restaurant Design Award winners the jury chose from the finalist pool it selected.

Composed of an architect, restaurateur and design writer, the jury featured varying points of view, but each juror holds extensive direct, or critical experience, evaluating restaurant design.

They are: writer Lisa Boone, Los Angeles Times; architect Aaron Neubert, AIA, Founder and Principal Architect ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects; restaurateur Caroline Styne, Restaurateur and co-owner of The Lucques Group (Lucques, a.o.c, Tavern, The Larders, Larder Baking Company and operators of Food + Wine at the Hollywood Bowl)

Together the group selected eleven tasty projects from across the country for the public to vote on. (5 in the Restaurant category, 4 in the Café/Bar category, and 2 in the Lounge/Nightclub category).

Now in its, thirteenth year, the AIA|LA RDAs have served as a launching point for talented new designers who have subsequently establish themselves as innovative succesful designers in the typology. Alexis Readinger, Assoc. AIA, of Preen, Inc. and Design, Bitches, Catherine Johnson, AIA, and Rebecca Rudolph, AIA, are RDA alumni as winners. RDA recipients have also included well-established architects realizing prestigious and popular restaurants locally, nationally, and abroad such as Richard Meier & Partners Architects, Montalba Architects and Belzberg Architects.
