Learn how to take advantage of your business insurance coverage - like your project owner’s do - by utilizing your policies in a manner that you may not have thought about before.  This session is designed to assist you take full advantage of your insurance policies: and learn how to tap into other construction project team policies.

You’ll also discover techniques to upgrade your practice’s standard agreements and identify problematic insurance requirements within project owner agreements.

Presenter Bios:

John Feeney, Vice President of IOA Insurance Services, currently manages business insurance coverage for several hundred CA A&E practices, with prior experience in creating national/ regional/state association endorsed professional liability programs. Apart from being a frequent A&E association lecturer, he is a member of SEAONC’s professional practices and ACEC’s business management & insurance committees.

Brian K. Stewart, Esq. Partner, Collins, Collins, Muir & Stewart, LLP. The firm has 4 offices spread throughout California.  Mr. Stewart handles predominantly professional liability and catastrophic injury matters.  He represents professionals in all aspects of their professional practice with an emphasis in representation of design professionals including contract review and negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and trial. He has also successfully handled numerous cases involving catastrophic personal injuries through trial involving wrongful death, quadriplegia, paraplegia, traumatic brain injury and other matters where catastrophic personal injuries are involved. Mr. Stewart has also successfully argued before various Courts of Appeal in California numerous times and the California Supreme Court as well.  He successfully argued the seminal case in California upholding contractual limitation of liability in construction contracts. He has also acted as Amicus counsel for a number of professional associations in the Court of Appeal and the firm acts as general counsel to a number of professional association chapters. Mr. Stewart is also active on various committees for both the American Council of Engineering Companies of California (ACEC-CA) and the American Institute of Architects – California Council (AIA-CC). He was awarded the Honorable AIA-CC designation in 2009.  He received the Presidential Citation from AIA-CC in 2014.  He received his undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University and his law degree from The John Marshall Law School.  He is licensed to practice law in California and Illinois and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).  He and his firm are rated AV-Pre-Eminent by Martindale-HubbellMr. Stewart is a frequent speaker at professional and industry events.
