Green Project Survey

Rapid changes are occurring regarding "green projects" driven by Project Owner environmental initiatives, federal and state regulations including CalGreen and requirements of third-party rating systems such as LEED. All these initiatives and regulations are creating a growing market for design professionals.

In an effort to obtain a better understanding of current "green project" developments and trends, SmartRisk, a Pasadena based risk and performance management consultancy for design and building professionals is conducting a "brief" survey of A/E firms.

Results of the survey will be included in an upcoming AIA Los Angeles seminar scheduled for May 20, 2011, CALGreen and Sustainable Project Strategy.

Architects: Please take two (2) minutes to complete this 10 question, radio button, checklist SURVEY and then REGISTER for the class below to learn about the survey results.

All survey respondents will remain anonymous. Thank you for your time and participation.

  • Date: Friday May 20, 2011 @ AIA|LA (3780 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 800 LA, CA 90010)
  • Time: 9:00 AM check in | 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM seminar
  • Learning Units Provided: 1.5 HSW/SD
  • Fees: $25 AIA Members or $45 Non-Members
  • Capacity: limited to the first 45 registrants
  • Course Description: One bright spot in the building sector is green projects predominately driven by owners' sustainable objectives and regulatory requirements including CALGreen building code that took effect January 1, 2011. By 2015, investments in green buildings are projected to increase from $71 billion to $175 billion. However, to be successful on these projects, caution must be exercised regarding the unique exposures including new technology and systems and sometimes conflicting regulations along with third-party programs such as LEED. Successful green projects requires the use of a "whole project" systematic risk-based decision process. This session will discuss green market trends, building energy use and the challenges associated with sustainable projects, CALGreen and other regulations as well as green industry claims. The SR Sustainable Project Risk Analysis will be described identifying risk factors and a decision making platform outlining responsibilities, actions and strategies. With this information, design professionals, owners and the entire project team will be better prepared positioned to meet sustainable objectives and simultaneously mitigate project risk.
