Incendiary Traces - Call for Submissions

The project, "Incendiary Traces", explores the role of landscape imagery in international conflict. It uses the palm-tree studded landscape to connect Los Angeles, whose trees are non-native, with political "hot spots" in the trees' countries of origin. "Incendiary Traces" will consist of a public archive of images, public dialogs, and publication developed in collaboration with diverse participants. Images seeding the archive and more information currently appear on the Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design's online gallery (here), and on Facebook.

Currently, "Incendiary Traces," is looking for interested architects, designers, artists, writers, historians, theorists and activists who live in, or immigrated to Los Angeles from palm tree-dotted places, including Latin America, China, Southeast Asia, North Africa and the Persian Gulf.

Organizations with the potential to partner with in developing the public dialog and publication are also most welcome.
